The Year of the Shark:

Dick Muir, at the time head coach of the Sharks, said at the beginning of the season that this was the "year of the Shark". After the Sharks were the only South African representative in the Super 14 semi-finals, and finishing top of the ABSA Currie Cup log 2008, it certainly seems so. One thing is missing... Silverware.

This Saturday, the 25th of October 2008, the Sharks play in their first Currie Cup final since 2003, and their first home Currie Cup final since 2001. 80 minutes of rugby and The Bulls is all that stands between the Sharks and their first trophy in 12 years. We all know what happened a year ago, and this is perfect revenge.

It is going to be titanic. To say the least.

I was down at the Sharks press conference on Tuesday the 21st of October, where John Plumtree and Johan Muller explained how the team are feeling ahead of the big game, and what some of the preparations have been. Johan Muller also speaks about some of the interesting omens the team seem to have ahead of this big clash.

I have put their explanations into a podcast, where you can hear it straight from the horse's mouth.

There is also an exclusive interview with Johan Muller about his faith as a Christian, and how faith plays a big part in the team's morale.
